About the author
She teaches Chemistry at the Cégep Heritage College in the Gatineau region of Quebec, where she has been teaching for over 15 years. As a former recipient of a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) award she has also had the opportunity to join research groups at the Loeb Health Research Institute and at the University of Ottawa working in the field of synthetic and medicinal organic chemistry. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, she moved to Canada at an early age. Shazia attended Heritage for her college-level studies before moving on to the University of Ottawa where she completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Biochemistry and a Masters of Education. Shazia likes outdoor activities such as biking and swimming, but also enjoys traditional photography, occasionally developing her own black and white photographs using a dark room.
