In June of 2014, we launched the “even more amazing” version of our web site. It has been designed to better meet the needs of teachers and other stakeholders in the college network. The process is not over, as Profweb will continue to evolve over time thanks to input from you and the members of the editorial board.
Beginning in the autumn of 2014, we gathered your comments and we called on our readers to participate in “user trials.” The valuable information that was gathered was used as input for the many improvements that have been made to the website. Here are some of the changes:
A Simplified Homepage
The banner of the site has been redesigned to simplify its use. We also refined the sections “News” and “Calendar”.
A Better Search Experience
Many of you sent us constructive feedback about the search engine and we have listened. The visual aspect of the filters has been redesigned and it is no longer necessary to navigate specifically to this area to access the advanced search filtering. We added the same options to the Publications and Digital Tools pages.
We took advantage of the change to the visual aspect of the search to add a new feature. You can now filter the publications and research results by theme. Want to see all the publications we have related to flipped classrooms? Now you can!
The Web Space
Many of you have a Profweb Web Space account. In an effort to provide you with additional guidance, we added a help window to the “Manage my web space” section. You will also find a new list of interesting resources on the right-hand side of the section.
But Wait! There’s More!
We invite you to send us your comments, whether they pertain to the website, the weekly newsletter, the Web Space or even our articles and Real Life Stories. We made other changes to the website, some of which are not visible that you will not notice, but which will improve your browsing experience. Our drawing boards are still full of other designs, and we will continue to work to fully meet the needs of our readers.
Watch for Something New in June 2015
We are working with several partners from the college network. We publish articles and stories that showcase their expertise and resources. We are particularly excited about a project we are working on to add a new section to the website. “Frameworks” which will include the ICT Profile for College Students, among others.
Looking forward to the ICT Profile section, which might do a lot to promote Open Educational Resources (OER) by and for Quebec’s Cegep system.
