AQPC Webinar | Experiential Leaning – Learning by Doing

Experiential learning is a learning process based on hands-on experiences. By engaging students in hands-on experiences, they can better connect knowledge learned in the classroom to real-life situations. This webinar will discuss Kolb’s (1984) learning cycle, which consists of a four-stage learning cycle in which the learner “touches all bases.” It will also provide examples of different learning techniques to engage learners and different formative and summative assessments. This webinar will also discuss how learners can take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for their learning. Throughout the process, learners actively experiment, solve problems, assume responsibility, and construct meaning. John Dewey’s (1938) experiential learning theory states that “everything occurs within a social environment. Knowledge is socially constructed and based on experiences” (p.58).

Webinar hosted by Heather Sorella, LaSalle College.
