Subject-specific VTE Labs : Innovative Practices in 2nd Language Pedagogy – January 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM

On January 12, 2021, a subject-specific Vtélab on innovative practices in second language teaching took place. Five speakers, all ESL teachers, discussed their use of technology to support their students. Nicholas Walker, an English teacher at Cégep Ahunstic, told about the virtual writing tutor platform. Anne-Marie Lafortune, an English teacher at Cégep de Gaspésie des îles, explained the use of Worldchat.live to promote students speaking skills. Rebecca Peters, Chloe Collins and Danielle Viens, spoked about teaching strategies to maintain a social interaction in a virtual language classroom. This meeting generated a lot of interest in the second language teacher community. This event, promoted by the Intercollegiate Meeting of Quebec City’s English-language CEGEPs, will be repeated as informal meetings to create collaborations among Quebec’s second-language teacher.
