Description of Objective 5.3 – Ensure the Security of Digital Information

Students must be aware of their individual and collective digital responsibilities and of the risks associated with using technology.

This objective requires students to ensure the security of information by protecting their digital identity and by securing their digital content.

5.3.1 – Protect own digital identity

The most important thing to which each person must pay particular attention on the web is their digital identity.

This task aims primarily at the concept of personal information. Students must be conscious that the traces they leave, the data they collect and their behavior are all elements that can increase the amount of sensitive information available about them on the web which can potentially create safety risks.

Students must also adopt prudent behavior when dealing with other people’s digital identities.

5.3.2 – Secure digital contents

Students must not only adopt prudent behaviors to secure their own digital content, but must also secure collective content (for example in team work). Applied to a professional context, securing digital content means securing content in their workplace.

This task consists of ensuring the safety and confidentiality of resources, transactions and digital information. It includes applying good practices in terms of the management of their user accounts, of protecting their workstations and data and of saving information.
