Description of Objective 5.1 – Master Work Environment
This objective aims to develop a student’s capacity to be fully functional in all technological work environments.
Right from the beginning of college, students must be able to use technological tools according of the objectives of their programs of study. They must also be able to use the technological environment provided by their college as well as the resources available to them both efficiently and rapidly.
Students must also develop their ability to manage digital files. They will be encouraged to adopt good work habits in their use of technology.
5.1.1 – Master the basic technological tools deemed essential when starting college
This task consists of ensuring that students have a common base knowledge and relevant expertise according to the expectations of their programs of study for the use of technological tools deemed essential at the start of their college studies.
Students are responsible for using resources and services available to them to improve themselves in order to meet the requirements and to be able to apply what they have learned using ICT that will be modelled along the way.
5.1.2 – Use the institution’s technological environment
Students must be able to efficiently use the technological environment of their college almost from the start.
This task requires students to acquire information that will help them to be fully functional technologically, both in a general and technical perspective: learning rules, finding resources and services offered, identifying available tools, arranging for access and usage, etc.
5.1.3 – Manage own digital files
This task requires students to develop their ability to manage digital files appropriately. They must know how to save, identify, file and group them and to understand their characteristics.
They must also know how to apply different strategies to be able to easily find them and to optimize their use in different contexts.
5.1.4 – Adopt good work habits when using technology
This task leads students to become aware of the impact that technology has on their health, to organize a comfortable work environment, and to adopt adequate hygiene practices related to their use of technology.
