Podcasting and Social Networking

This text was initially published by Profweb under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International licence, before Eductive was launched.

Hi! My name is Raymond Cantin, and I’m proud to present this first podcast specially produced for Profweb. I’m new at La Vitrine Technologie-Éducation and my background is in Ed Tech, e-learning and instructional design. I was also a teacher at Dawson and Champlain colleges back in the late 90’s.

Social networking tools are invading the Internet. Will they have a real influence on pedagogy and teaching? This first podcast looks at a few interesting social networking tools.

La Vitrine Technologie-Éducation’s mission is to promote and provide support for teachers and educational advisors in the integration of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in Quebec’s college network.

We produce a bi-weekly newsletter which highlights the latest innovations in the field of ICT.

La Vitrine has also developed a free Internet and Education guide that contains hundreds of online learning resources, in all disciplines, which is quite handy for teachers.

After you’ve listened to the podcast above, could you please use our Reader Response Feature below to answer the following questions:

  • Have you used social networking tools like the ones mentioned in the podcast in your teaching?
  • Did the contents of this podcast and its format help you to better understand social networking and its academic uses?
  • Has this experience inspired you to use podcasting in teaching?
