This article contains some predictions from the team for 2017, some are serious, while others are more comical. Happy reading and Happy New Year 2017 to all of our readers, collaborators and partners!

I predict that the AQPC Symposium will cause tremors of enthusiasm and additional traffic jams in Montreal in June 2017. The theme of the Symposium 2017,” Our Legacy”. A legacy can be both something we receive and a contribution we pass on to those who are following our pathway or who will soon take it.

I predict that a highly infectious illness called Profwebiolitis will take over the college network. Infected colleagues will spend a great deal of time consulting a particular website & its associated social media sites. Other symptoms could include a strong desire to try new ICTs in their classes and to talk incessantly about their experiences. As there is no known remedy for this illness, experts suggest following the “if you can’t beat them, join them” approach!

2017 will probably be the year of smart objects. To prove this, you can now purchase a smart hairbrush to conduct your own hair health analysis! On a more serious note, the Vitrine technologie-éducation has recently become interested in the world of sport technologies. In addition, 2 teachers will soon share a Real Life Story on Profweb about their flipped classroom project and the use of smart bracelets in physical education. Will we be witness to a technological shift in gymnasiums?

I predict that Profweb will soon present an extremely interesting (and very clear) article on the use of the iPad for digital grading. This tool will provide relief to a number of teachers when it comes to corrections. And why not, a super interesting feature report presenting diverse tools for digital correcting and evaluating student learning? Be sure to keep an eye out in the coming weeks.

I predict that there will be amazing teamwork with our partners and our collaborators. In my crystal ball that I got for Christmas, I can also see that next week, Profweb will meet with 3 groups of students in the DESS in college teaching at Université Laval. I also see a symposium about free software (ADTE – Association pour le développement technologique en éducation) on March 15 at Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon. I believe it is time to register.

I also believe that 2017 will be the year that many colleges implement cloud computing on an institutional level, leveraging the strength of the collaborative possibilities offered by this type of framework. I just hope we all remember to implement a solid backup strategy for our documentary assets at the same time!
